Relaunch!

March 15, 2016

I attended a conference in Miami at the beginning of this year.  It was a great way to recharge, refocus and set a plan for the new year.  You were advised to come with "expectancy".  I went expecting to get clear direction for my nonprofit organization (lajcenter.org) and a solid plan for a profit business that was inline with my true purpose and passion.  There were several sessions and empowering workshops, but one I did attend was a book writing workshop.  I was quite intrigued to see this on the list of sessions.  It brought back fond memories of my writing days.  As I sat and listened to the advice of the speaker on writing and publishing your book, I  realized everything being covered I experienced as a self-published author and writer.  It became evident as I heard the stories being told around the room, a book writing/publishing service was needed that catered to just “us”.

My mind began to race with ideas of how I could relaunch a company I established in 1999.  The thought that I could embrace and begin to write again excited me.  The company was called TiaZar Publishing (name after my daughters Tiana and Zaria).  They have always been my true inspiration in wanting to pursue my passion.

I originally started the company to publish my own work, but always had the vision of helping others publish as well.  I also wanted to retain full control of my work.  Granting "Rights" and "Permissions" as I saw fit.  I self-published two books (Your Guide to Operating a Computer-Based Business at Little or No Cost! and Get That Book Out! A Self-Publisher's Guide to Publishing Your Own Book, Booklet, or eBook)  These books did well and were offered on Amazon, Barns & Noble and other local bookstores.

In re-establishing TiaZar Publishing this year, I wanted to make it personal.  I mean personal to the point of carving out a niche for African-American women who have something to say that would otherwise go unnoticed to the “mainstream”.  Most of the women at the conference were African-American and I could see myself in the stories they told.  I wanted to help.  TiaZar Publishing will be a company that will embrace the stories of those women.   I am grateful for the opportunity to give them a platform.

I will say this.  Choose a business in line with your Purpose.  It will be important on those days when you need motivation to continue. The journey will not be easy but well worth it.  Its great to get back to what I love. I am working on revising "Get That Book Out!"  It will be published soon!
